hereandthere

06 October to 06 November 2017

Grand Traverse Distillery - 215 E. Front Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684

Artist Reception 20 October - 6 to 8pm

HERE & THERE is an exhibition of new landscape paintings by Royce Deans and Tali Farchi.

The show is a part of the Art Mixer Mentor Series curated by Robin Stanley.

The work is mainly work that Tali and Royce have done on their art excursions that regularly take them to very interesting places in Europe, Israel and the US, thus the name. These bodies of work essentially represent snapshots of the artist's adventures. Never with sketchbooks and the paint box is never too far away, whenever there is a chance a painting will be born. Catching the moment in paint makes for a very real connection with the artist and the place.

Tali and Royce are the founders of the ArtisTTable and lead art retreats to many exciting places. These retreats give the chance for artists of all levels to step away from their everyday life and step into a world where all they have to do is to make art. ArtisTTable art retreats foster creativity to the highest degree and celebrate exploration into new areas of art.

HERE & THERE also includes a few older paintings that Tali and Royce created with live musicians in front of live audiences. These paintings are direct responses to the music that was being played. Simultaneously, the creation of the paintings were projected on the wall for the audience and the musicians to see. So, in the realm of true improvisation and collaboration, the musicians in turn would play the paintings as much as the paint was about their music.

When you visit the show at the Grand Traverse Distillery you will find a QR code on each label that links directly to a page on this site that gives more information about each painting. Some pages have preliminary sketches or photos of the actual location.
